Dear Restaurant
Goer:
I consider myself a food
snob. I love to eat.
But when I heard there was a restaurant just outside Boston that would
bring me back to Europe, my first reaction was: I doubt it!
I was thinking of some of
the other restaurants I’ve been to. Italian.
Americanized. Huge portions. If that’s what this new one is, I won’t go
back!
But soon I discovered
that isn’t the kind of restaurant the young chef and owner had in mind.
Their wish for all of us is:
ENJOY
THE TANTALIZING TASTES
WITH
A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE.
And they offer
that relaxing atmosphere through the great pairing of foods, wine and
music.
How? By using
foods with an aphrodisiac quality paired with exceptional European
wines.
They cook everything to order using only market fresh ingredients and
homemade
pastas
They have a knowledgeable staff to help you select the most
complementary wine
for your meal.
They play classical and jazz music of great European singers while you
dine
The owner only
wants you to “buy” the idea of being in Europe.
And it costs
you nothing – except the experience.
START
YOUR EXPERIENCE – AT ONCE!
Unless you are allergic
to all types of food, you can start experiencing this Bistro on Broadway your
first visit. Even if you have
specific dietary needs, most can be accommodated.
If you’re lactose intolerant, they can handle it. Atkins diet, no
problem. High Cholesterol? Taken care of.
Here’s a clue. Tell
your waitperson that you have these needs.
Some menu items are bad, even down right dangerous if you have food
allergies. Unmodified, you may
have a bad reaction. By notifying
your waitperson in advance, you’ll learn what menu items to avoid – and
what items are safe, healthful and modifiable.
And, if your waitperson is not sure, they will
certainly ask for you. The chef
and/or owner will make a recommendation for you, possibly speak with you
directly or give you a few options for the next visit as well.
And go back again you will! Even if you have a
limited selection from their menu, you will be able to order off the menu
again with more confidence – and enjoy a meal out with your family and
friends.
FINE DINING
MISTAKES TO AVOID
Overeating
is one of three critical areas in which you can make serious, fine dining
errors. Another is being rushed.
Many of us are living in a fast paced, environment where
everything needs to happen right now, yesterday. This prompts us to eat too
fast at a single meal. Do you?
There is a simple question you can ask yourself to see if this is true?
Where do I eat most of my meals on any given day?
Another kind of bad fine dining habit, reports
owner, creates “noise pollution” within the four walls of the restaurant
when various rings of cell phones go off in the middle of conversations.
When this happens, the relaxed atmosphere – and you – become
disturbed.
One of the most serious and un-enjoyable consequences of fine dining
errors is going while fighting. In fact, it is estimated that men more than
women feel a romantic setting will help smooth things over when it really
makes things worse. If you are male, you’re hoping to get your partner drunk
so she forgets about the fight. If you are female, you’re hoping he won’t
drink so you can talk. But, male or female, fighting does not help you relax
and enjoy the ambience or each other’s company.
HOW TO STOP AND
SMELL THE AROMAS
Enjoying each other’s company is one of the more difficult things to
do right after a bad fight. Indeed, many people don’t even want to be in the
same room - - let alone at the same table. If you are willing to rekindle
those feelings, a romantic – fine dining restaurant is the place to go.
Now there is a place to go for just that purpose.
It’s Broadway Bistro, Revere, MA.
This restaurant whisks you away to another country, soothes your soul
and helps you park your troubles outside the front door.
TIME
TO SAVOUR YOUR MEAL
Now it’s time to wind-down. To begin your experience a stuts-a-keno
(tasting) is brought out compliments of the house followed by a basket of
homemade breads and/or muffins. Behind
the bar, your eyes are drawn to a stunning acrylic of a hilltop village in
Italy painted by one of the waitresses, who is an art major at the Mass
College of Art. A mixture of jazz and classical music is playing in the
background and the lights are slightly dimmed.
The bistro's entree menu offers a tempting selection of lamb, chicken,
veal, beef, fish and pasta dishes, inspired by the Emilia-Romagna province
near Parma, Italy, where the chef trained and where he insists you will find some of the world's best
foods. Pasta dishes are available
in both sample and entrée size.
If you are lactose-intolerant like me
the chef will cook without the dairy. The dessert menu has a dessert
labeled “Lactose-Free” Boston Crème pie, which is simply scrumptious! If
you have high cholesterol (and eat there on a regular basis) they guarantee
that you will lower your cholesterol. For
those on the Atkins diet there
is a list in the kitchen of what can be served off their menu and how that
item should be prepared.

P.S.
Don’t miss Broadway Bistro’s supplementary brochure, “How to
choose the
appropriate wines for any meal.”
What is true
Champagne? It is a variety of wines and styles, which come from over
300 years
of tradition. Developed in a unique environment of climate and soil particular
to La Champagne, France, located in Northeastern France. Champagne is the
result of a
blend of 30 – 60 still wines made with grapes of Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir, and Pinot
Meunier, all coming from different villages and many
vintages.
There are several types of Champagne. Extra Brut, Brut, Extra Dry, Dry,
demi-sec and doux. Extra Brut being the driest, and doux being quite sweet.
The style one chooses depends on the type of situation, the individuals’
preferences and what is being eaten.
