"Pocketbook Sale with a Twist!" Purchasing and Donating in One Easy Step Date:
Your opportunity to buy pocketbooks and give to a good cause couldn't be any easier... If you want to get a good deal on a brand new pocketbook... for either yourself or someone you love... or looking for a way to give back... or you want to have a choice where your donation goes... or maybe the idea of doing both with just the push of one button, rather than having to make a purchase in one place, then go to another site to make a donation and/or write out a check ... continue reading to find out how you can accomplish this! It's Wednesday morning, Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanza are right around the corner and I've been thinking a lot lately about all the pocketbooks I found in my aunt's closet. Part of me wants to just give them away... the other part wants to sell them. You see, my aunt Dee passed away late October and while cleaning out her bedroom I ran across things I didn't even know she had. Among them were bags of new pocketbooks, wallets, key cases, etc. The sad part is that she always used the same two pocketbooks; one for winter months, the other for summer... and was on a mission to find a "new" one. Now I'm not talking cheap pocketbooks here... I'm talking brand names like Valerie Stevens, Liz Claiborne, Guess, Espirit, Gianni Bernini, Etienne Aigner... all top notch - most 100% leather! Personally, I have more than enough pocketbooks myself, and instead of forcing them on people who don't like the style when giving them away... I've decided to do the honorable thing. Sell them at a great price for those who would love to have a designer pocketbook... but can't afford the retailer's outrageous prices... and donate half the money for each purchase. And, give the buyer a choice among three different charities. And, make that donation in Your name, should you choose to do so. I've been scouring the stores and their sales flyers over the past few weeks, just to see how much these pocketbooks sell for. Most of them are now on sale ranging in price from $35.00 to $75.00. Here's The Deal You can buy each one for only $40.00 and 50% goes to one of three charities of your choice:
Why these three charities? Auntie Dee was passionate about animals, dogs in particular. She's always had a dog. I remember as a child how she would turn a walk around the block with her dog (Bonnie) into at least an hour. Every dog she met along the way, would get a pat and conversation from her. It didn't matter if it was 90 degrees outside or 30 degrees. Hence the MSPCA. Many weekends during my childhood were spent being Auntie Dee's roommate. On Sundays we would walk down to Harvard Square for the free concerts in the park. These were the best and worst times of my life, because I knew after the concert it was time for me to go home. I'd stall us as long as possible, but inevitably, I'd be put into the car and would cry like a baby all the way home. Hence the Domestic Violence. In 2001, I was diagnosed with cancer (non-hodgkins), but didn't actually have chemotherapy until 2005. It was during these years that I really started studying humor as a way of beating this awful disease. Since then, I've started writing again not only for therapy but to help others when I can. With the help of my two writing buddies (Fifi and Marjory), I have put a website together to offer my writing services to those in need. Hence Grandma Gesundheit. That's it! Simple. By purchasing a pocketbook of your choice, not only do you get something you like, but you're giving back as well. And, that's what this holiday season is all about... Giving to those less fortunate.
My Personal Guarantee To take this one step further - if for whatever reason, either you or the receiver of the pocketbook, are not happy with it, I will refund you the $20.00 (actual cost of the pocketbook) no questions asked. Is that fair? Happy Holidays,
P.S. Just send the unused pocketbook back to me January 31, 2009 and you $20.00 will be refunded to you.
